I’m one of the many Mexicans who believe in Garabandal. I love the Blessed Virgin of Carmel of Garabandal very much even though up until now the Bishops of Santander, quite correctly, have not approved the apparitions. When our family prays the rosary we always pray the litany of the Virgin Mary, especially addressing Our Lady as Our Lady of Garabandal. Every day we put fresh flowers in front of her picture; for us this is a cherished devotion. And the Virgin does not let us outdo her in generosity as evidenced by what she did in our house.
Our servant girl’s little brother had paralysis of one of his legs. The boy was already two years old and couldn’t walk. He got around by dragging himself across the floor grabbing and pulling on furniture. The parents traveled with the child from their ranch in the state of Zacatecaz to Monterray hoping that he could be seen by specialists, only to find out when they got there that they couldn’t afford the expense.
For some reason, God never inspired us to pay for the medical treatments, which we would gladly have done had we thought of it. While not being rich, we do try to be charitable in any way we can.
At any rate, their trip had been in vain and they were getting ready to return home. At that moment, thanks to the providence and mercy of the Lord, I remembered that a friend of mine had a bead from a rosary that had been kissed by the Virgin in Garabandal. I borrowed it and touched it to the child’s knee on his paralyzed leg, at the same time making the sign of the cross three times in honor of the Blessed Trinity and praying five Hail Marys in honor of the name of our sweet mother, Our Lady.
This happened on the Wednesday of Holy Week, 1968, and oh glorious mercy of God and our heavenly Mother! At 3:00 P.M. on Good Friday, the hour that we commemorate the death of our Redeemer and the sacrifice made by Our Lady as Co-Redemptrix, the child started not only walking but began to run.The cure was instantaneous. As the years passed the child developed normally without any consequences. Naturally, his parents were overjoyed. His name is Jorge Garcia, and he lives in El Saucito La Blanca, Zacatecaz.
