Ukraine: from Sydorivka

Nurse's Back Miraculously Healed

December 10, 2002
Glory be to God!

I am writing to you from the village of Sydorivka, the Province of Lviv, Ukraine. My name is Natalia Dmytrivna Bodnar. I was born in 1972. I am a Christian, a believer and I am a churchgoer. I have heard much about God's miracles, but I never fully understood until I experienced this first-hand.

On September 23, 2002, I suddenly developed severe back pains. I thought, I had a slipped disc in my spine. I went to a neurologist and they gave me my diagnosis: lumbar-spinal myalgia in the lower back. The pain was not that severe but it certainly was very uncomfortable. I was totally unable to bend over. It was very difficult to walk or even to lie down. The treatment consisted of pills and injections for pain relief. By profession I am a registered nurse, but I dislike having injections. After one day, there was absolutely no change in my condition. Then a miracle happened.

On September 25, 2002 I travelled to the Cathedral of the Holy Resurrection in Ivano-Frankivsk, where Dr. Michael and Helen were having a presentation and praying over people with their kissed medals from Garabandal. There was a great number of people present there in the Cathedral. I was barely able to stand on my feet and, to tell the truth, I was wishing that I had not come.

At the Cathedral, I went to confession and received Holy Communion. After the presentation and the general prayer by Dr. Michael, I did not feel anything and became disillusioned. Later I approached Helen for prayer. The moment the medal of the Blessed Mother was placed on my forehead and Helen was praying, a wonderful miracle happened to me.

I remember the words: "Do not be afraid. Jesus is with you," and the rest was like a dream. What happened to me, I do not know. The other people saw what happened. Then I went and sat down on a chair and it was as though my back was no longer in pain. Later on I moved, stretched, bent over and my back did not hurt anymore. But I still did not believe until I returned home! I woke up the next morning with no pain. Now it was two days without any painkillers. I was able to work just as before my illness. It was then that I believed, that truly, God's power can do everything. As folk wisdom says: "Prayer can break steel".

And so I sincerely thank Dr. Michael and Helen, who with their own personal testimony and through the blessing of Our Lord Jesus and Mother Mary, help people. Not everyone is given this gift from God.

I sincerely ask Our Blessed Mother and Jesus Christ to continue giving them strength and perseverance to help people. And if they are able, may they return again to Ukraine and to our village of Sydorivka, in Ukraine and help other ill people as they have helped me. So let us all pray together, and ask God for this, because when you knock — the door will be opened.

Wishing you the best of health and God's protection.
Very respectfully,

Natalia D. Bodnar
