Healed of Herniated Discs

Reprinted with permission from GARABANDAL JOURNAL September-October 2003

My name is Marcel Vanderberghe. I'm fifty-five years old, married and the father of four children. I live in Brussels and work for a company where I control the shipment of merchandise and supplies to our branch stores.

In the first days of September, I had to stop working. Several examinations, some of them painful, revealed herniated discs. Thanks to the competence and care of my doctor I managed to escape surgical intervention. Rest and proper treatment stabilized me. I was referred to a neurologist because my hands shook so much I could no longer write; I couldn't even sign my name.

There was no hope for a cure, but the possibility existed that I could be treated and stabilized at this point. I could probably work a few more years, but the future was not very promising.

When a visiting friend told me about the Pilgrim Virgin of Garabandal, without hesitation we decided to take her for a week in our house in December of 1994. I had only heard of the apparitions two years before. Miss Rossi gave us literature and a video cassette full of information.

The day before the statue of the Virgin of Garabandal was to leave our house, I felt compelled to elevate my legs, something I could not do without pain. I raised my legs to an angle of 60 degrees without any pain. I thought: "If I can raise my legs, maybe I can also write," and miraculously I was able to.

The next morning, I wondered if I had been dreaming and I again elevated my legs and was able to write. I went to an orthopedic surgeon and he told me everything was fine. The day after that I went to the office of my doctor, who was happily astounded to see me writing again, and he told me he had nothing to do with this cure.

It was very clear to me: Mary had interceded for me with her Son. Jesus had done the rest. Glory and Praise to the power and kindness of God.
